At the Westport Weston Family YMCA, we believe that it is our mission to build more, confident swimmers. To meet this goal, we offer swim lessons for infants, toddlers, children, teens and adults. All ages can participate in swim lessons in groups or privately.

The YMCA’s Aquatic Policy for Thunder & Lightning
At the Family YMCA, with our two indoor pools and an outdoor pool at our Camp Mahackeno facility, as well as the Saugatuck River and Lees Pond bordering our campus, ensuring your family’s safety around water is critical to how we operate.
We’d like to remind YMCA Members and guests of our policy to clear both indoor and outdoor pools and decks of swimmers when we see lightning or hear thunder. The pools will remain closed until 30 minutes after the lightning risk passes.
This policy follows recommended practices endorsed by our insurer, The Redwoods Group, as well as the American Red Cross, National Lightning Safety Institute and YMCA of the USA.
In the event of a thunderstorm, YMCA Aquatics staff and lifeguards will direct pool users to exit the water and away from the pool deck until the lightning risk passes.
Thank you, and please feel free to contact Aquatics Director Nicole Turechek at 203-226-8981 or firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions or concerns.
