Gymnastics Coach –  Recreation and USAG TEAM- The Westport YMCA is seeking qualified individuals  to coach in our gymnastic program. Coaching positions available throughout our  recreation and class boys and girls programs and Level 3-10 optional and compulsory JO girls team program.

Requirements

  • Previous experience required
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Energetic and enthusiastic
  • Demonstrate proper form and technique
  • Team coaches must be able to lead stretching and conditioning and set up drills at each event.
  • Personal experience as a gymnast required
  • Good communication skills

Aquatics

Health & Wellness

  • Personal Trainer- We are looking to expand our team.  If you hold a nationally accredited certification and have a proven track record, please contact Judy Klein.
  • Nutritional Counseling- If you hold a degree or nationally accredited certification and have a proven track record, please contact Judy Klein.
  • Wellness Floor Coach-  Do you have an interest in the Fitness Industry?   Must be able to work 6:00 pm – 10:00 pm weekdays and weekend shifts.  If interested, please contact Judy Klein.

Youth Programs

  • Assistant Teacher – Afterschool
    • Shifts Available Monday – Friday 3:00pm-6:00pm.
    • Afterschool program serving Westport K-5 students.

  • Bus Driver
    • Shifts available include Mon – Fri 2:30pm-4:30pm.
    • Potential for morning shifts between 7:30am-9:00am.

Summer Camp

Camp runs late June through the end of August each year.  The Westport YMCA operates two large summer camp programs including the Traditional YMCA Camp Mahackeno and the Camp Hafaday Swim Program.   Our programs serve over 1000 individual campers providing a safe, fun and enriching summer experience.

While the qualifications for each position vary, all candidates will exhibit the following qualities:

  • Passionate about helping children grow and develop spiritually, mentally, and physically
  • Committed to upholding a high standard of integrity at work daily

Positions:

  • Counselor (must be 16+)
    • Lead a group of 6-10 campers through a day of camp.
    • Facilitate games and activities.
    • Ensure the safety and well being of campers.
  • Specialist – Non Challenge Course (Must be 17+)
    • Leads program area activities.  May lead Arts, Crafts, Sports, Theater, Archery (certification required), etc.
    • Plans and executes specialized area of camp.
  • Specialist – Challenge course (18+)
    • May lead ropes course or bouldering activities.
    • Low Ropes training required (provided)
    • Must exhibit a high level of risk management skills.
  • Lifeguard/Swim Instructor (16+)
    • Ensures the safety of all participants in and around the pool and waterfront area.
    • Leads swim lessons daily.
    • May instruct boating activities. (additional certifications required)
  • Unit Director (18+ minimum 1 year of college)
    • Oversees a team of counselors.
    • Plans camp programming and ensures its execution.
    • ensures all camp policies and best practices are followed.
    • Serves as a main link between camp and camper families for behavior and other communications.
    • Previous camp experience preferred.
  • Bus Driver (21+)
    • Tue-Fri, 8:30am-4:00pm
    • MUST HAVE A CURRENT CDL with passenger endorsement
