DANCE CENTER POLICIES

ATTENDANCE POLICY

Attendance is an important part as we don’t want any of our dancers to miss out on any fun. In order to develop skills and routines in time for competitions, events and shows, we ask that the dancers are prepared to attend class and arrive on time each week. We of course understand that illness, injury and logistics may occasionally keep your dancer from being at class. If your dancer must miss a class, we ask that you email Dance Center Coordinator, Alison Ligi at aligi@westporty.org. It is important to note that if a student’s absence is due to illness or injury – especially if it is for multiple days – a doctor’s note may be required. We try to accommodate our dancer’s other, non-dance activities. It is important to remember, however, that your dancer is committing to a class.

INCLEMENT WEATHER PROGRAM MAKE-UPS

Please check the following locations for changes to our facility and program schedules. Check the Red banner at the top of every page on our website or check the Family Y Facebook and Instagram. Alternatively, you can check the outgoing voice message at the Westport Y 203-226-8981.

Currently, the Dance Center is not able to offer make ups for classes that are cancelled due to inclement weather because of limited space and instructor availability. There are no refunds or credits for weather cancellations. If you have questions, please call the Family YMCA Dance Center at 203-571-6039.

MAKEUP/REFUND POLICY

Dance program participants register for classes on specific dates and times. Unless the YMCA cancels a class, and provides a makeup, attendance in scheduled classes is the responsibility of the participant. We cannot provide makeup classes or allow the participant to attend a different class. No refunds or credits for classes.

The Westport Weston Family YMCA Dance Center follows a strict refund policy. If the Westport Weston Family YMCA Dance Center cancels a class for whatever the reason, a full refund will be issued. If an injury were to occur, a note from the dancer’s doctor would be needed before a refund would be considered. Make up classes are offered for classes that are canceled by the Westport Weston Family YMCA Dance Center. Please make every effort to attend make up classes as we do not issue refunds for personal schedules. As much as we do not want to cancel a class, we make every effort to make sure classes are made up. Sadly, we are not able to accommodate everyone’s personal schedules. We are not able to offer a make-up lesson if your dancer has missed classes that have already been held. We encourage our dancers to attend every class, so no dance fun is missed. Costume fees that are included in our January to June tuition are also non-refundable. Once costumes are ordered and received, we are unable to return them. We thank you for understanding and adhering to our policies.
