Dance Center

The Westport Weston Family YMCA Dance Center has been providing quality Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Modern, Hip Hop and Creative Children’s Classes for children, teens, and adults for over 30 years. The school offers a full spectrum of programs for students ages 2 to adult.

Our education-based program is geared toward creating well rounded dancers with strong technique, coordination and focus. We strive to engage students physically and intellectually while helping them have fun while learning.

The Dance Program meets from September to June. We offer two semesters, Fall and Winter/Spring.

Dance Companies

The Dance Center program also includes the award-winning Teen, Junior, Petite, Mini and Kinder Performing Companies. Entrance to the Teen, Junior, Petite, Mini and Kinder companies is by audition, held in early summer.

Dance Center Director

Lillian Cenatiempo is an award winning choreographer and performer who earned her degree in Fine Arts- Dance from Naugatuck Valley Community College in 2007. Lillian is a native of Connecticut and began her training locally where she participated in and won numerous regional and national dance competitions. She continues her studies in NYC at Broadway Dance Center concentrating on Jazz, Hip Hop, and Tap. Lillian has performed and choreographed in regional productions of 42nd Street, Damn Yankees, Annie and Annie Get Your Gun, to name a few and was a member of the Terpsichorean Dance Ensemble at NVCC. Lillian is in her tenth year with the Family YMCA Dance Center, and her sixth as director.

Jeanelle Kaminski

Jeanelle is an award winning choreographer whose students have gone on to have pre professional and professional careers. With her degree in Fine Arts/Dance, Jeanelle studied multiple areas of dance including, Modern, Ballet, Jazz and Pedagogy. As a member of the schools invite only performance group, she served as their president for a few years even receiving their Award of Merritt for her work with the ensemble. We are very excited to have Miss Jeanelle on staff.

Staci D’Andrea

Staci is a recent graduate of Dean College with her B.A as a double major in Dance Arts and Entertainment Management. A resident of Milford, Staci started her dance career at the at of 3. She was a competition dancer for 13 years and continued her love of dance to the collegiate where she found her love of teaching. This is Miss Staci’s second year with us on staff here at the Westport Weston Family YMCA Dance Center.

Kelsey Kaminski

Kelsey, a native of Monroe, holds her BFA in Dance Performance, Choreography, Pedagogy and Kinesiology from Ohio University. In 2015 Kelsey attended the American Ballet Theater’s teacher certification program where she studied under some of ABT’s incredible staff and dancers. Kelsey is also a Power Pilates instructor and Certified Personal Trainer through ISSA. Kelsey is excited to be joining the YMCA dance center staff as our new Ballet teacher and is looking forward to working with children in a loving and energetic environment. Welcome Miss Kelsey!

Monica Ryan

Monica started dancing from a young age. It was always something she loved and appreciated. Through her three daughters love of dance, Monica was able to get back into the art form she had always loved. Monica started with the YMCA dance center as a volunteer class assistant and has evolved into a wonderfully talented teacher.

Lexi LoRusso

Lexi graduated from Springfield College in 2012 with a B.A. in Dance and a Health Studies minor. She began her dance training at three years old. She trained in Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, and Tap at Center Stage Dance Studio in Stamford. In addition, she participated in DanceFest workshops concentrating on Jazz, Ballet, Theatre Dance and Hip Hop with Jermaine Brown, Noah Racey, Ben Hartley, and Josh Bergasse. She continued her dance training at the Dance Olympus Workshops in NYC focusing on Jazz, Tap, Ballet and Lyrical with Debbie Dee, Sarah Jo Fazio, Jay T and Sam Fiorello. Lexi has performed and choreographed for several dance concerts at Springfield College and also participated in two company performances with Elm City Dance Collective located in New Haven. Lexi is entering her fifth year teaching dance at the Family Y Dance Center.
