We understand that not all fitness goals are made equally, and that there are many groups in search of targeted training and programming to meet their specific needs. To that end, the Family Y offers the following programs to meet the needs of our diverse communities.
If you are looking for guidance on implementing healthier eating habits, working with our Registered Dietician Nutritionist (RDN) may be just what you need to reach your health and wellness goals. RDN’s are educated to provide personalized nutrition plans that support your goals to manage conditions like weight, diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure.

Next session: January 26-April 4, 2020. LOSE-2-WIN is a wellness program designed to help you get fit, lose weight, and adapt to a healthier lifestyle.
Each week you will receive an email with 4 challenges for the week. These challenges will cover: strength training, cardio exercise, nutrition, and stress reduction. Attachments and links to “Tips to support you” will be provided. Program details including descriptions for all challenges and hard copies of your checklists will also be located in the Wellness Center for each person/teams reference. Our Lose-2-Win program currently runs in January, July and October.

You can work out, or you can train! Tri Club is for newbies looking to complete their first Sprint Triathlon, the seasoned vet gearing up for an upcoming Half-Ironman, or anyone in between! We’ve got indoor or outdoor swim, bike, and run workouts with team members all season long to keep you constantly working toward your goals! Key races for the year include REV3, Pat Griskus Series, and much more! Plans created by USA Triathlon Certified Coaches. Information sessions are held each January. Triathlon Club runs February to October each year.

BLOOD PRESSURE SELF-MONITORING PROGRAM
If you have high blood pressure and/or are diagnosed hypertensive this 4 month program is just for you! High blood pressure is the #1 cause of stroke, and it can cause arteries to fill up with plaque, potentially leading to completely blocked blood flow and a heart attack. Throughout the duration of this 4-month program participants will learn to self-monitor their own blood pressure, increase physical activity, improve their eating habits and attend regular seminars all geared towards lowering blood pressure and increasing health. As of September 2016 this program is currently offered in 25 states at 140 sites, servicing 1889 participants. Participants are showing an average drop in their systolic blood pressure of -4.9% and a drop in their diastolic blood pressure of -3.2%.
TO QUALIFY, PARTICIPANTS WILL:
· Be at least 18 years old
· Be diagnosed with high blood pressure
· Not have experienced a recent cardiac event
· Not have atrial fibrillation or other arrhythmias
· Not be at risk for lymphedema

REGENERATE PROGRAM FOR CANCER SURVIVORS
Working in conjunction with Norwalk Hospital’s Whittingham Cancer Center and the Smilow Family Breast Health Center, the Family YMCA is proud to offer this complimentary 8-week fitness program designed specifically for cancer survivors. During the program, referred survivors meet with our specially-trained Health & Wellness professionals individually and in group settings to learn effective exercise routines that will improve functional strength as well as relaxation techniques that will help reduce cancer therapy side effects. A complimentary 12 week membership is also included in this program. Please note: at this time, only patients referred directly from their physician are eligible for the program. CARDIAC REHAB PROGRAM
In a partnership with St. Vincent’s Hospital, the Family YMCA offers a Cardiac Rehab Program. The complimentary 12 week program allows cardiac patients who have completed their Phase 2 program to continue with their exercise in a supervised and monitored program. Sessions are currently scheduled on a case-by-case basis. Participation in the Cardiac Rehab Program includes a free 3 month Family YMCA membership while you are enrolled in the program. Please note: at this time, only YMCA members or patients referred directly from St. Vincent’s Hospital are eligible for the program. A MATTER OF BALANCE
Many older adults experience concerns about falling and restrict their activities. A MATTER OF BALANCE is an award-winning program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels. This is an 8 week course that meets every week for 2 hours in our Schine Meeting Room.

FIELD GOODS PRODUCE DELIVERY PROGRAM
We’ve partnered with Field Goods to offer a produce delivery service to Y members and the Westport/Weston community! Field Goods is a one-of-a-kind subscription-based business that delivers freshly-harvested local fruit and vegetables to employees and consumers at workplaces and community locations.
Field Goods subscribers receive 5 to 8 different types of fruits and vegetables each week, sourced from over 80 small farms – the majority of which are located in the Hudson Valley. Weekly add-on options include local artisan bread, fresh pasta, local cheese, extra fruit, and more. A weekly e-newsletter, In the Bag, provides tips and recipes as a helpful guide for preparing the produce. Research attests to Field Goods’ healthy results. The Sage Colleges Nutrition Science Department’s 2014 research study reveals a direct correlation between Field Goods and healthier diets, increased satisfaction with eating habits, and saving time and money on grocery shopping.

MOVEWELL TODAY DIABETES EXERCISE PROGRAM
Individuals diagnosed as pre-diabetic or with Type 2 diabetes must be referred to this program by their healthcare professional. Pre-diabetes is a potentially reversible condition that often leads to diabetes, and 79 million people in the United States are estimated to have it. The MoveWell Today Diabetes exercise program gets to the root of the diabetes epidemic by helping high risk individuals make lifestyle changes. This 12 week program includes cardio and strength training exercise circuits designed as a self-management tool for diabetes 2 DEP circuit classes and one additional independent exercise session weekly. (3 exercise sessions total/week). Tracking of blood glucose levels, exercise intensity and duration daily; HbA1c levels pre and post program. YOUTH FITNESS PROGRAMS
The Family YMCA offers several opportunities for youth to get active under the direction of a Certified Personal Trainer or Certified Group Fitness Instructor! Please note: these programs do not run in our Summer session.
Youth Fitness Training
Learn the importance of a healthy exercise routine with a certified personal trainer by your side. Our trainers will guides students through a variety of cardio, strength and flexibility exercises. This group is appropriate both for budding athletes and kids looking for an intro to fitness. Program is instructed by a Certified Personal Trainer.

Teen Cycle, Sculpt & Stretch
At teen cycle, sculpt & stretch you will be able to build healthy habits early to become an excellent role model for others. class begins in Cycle Studio and ends in Studio C. Member or non-member, bring a friend, see new faces, and have a great workout! (ages 12-15)

Yoga for Kids
This inclusive yoga class is meant for kids of all abilities. Students will learn about yoga poses and how they can help you grow stronger and feel great! Program is instructed by a Certified Group Fitness Instructor.
Kids get the chance to be active and jam out to their favorite music! Zumba Kids classes feature kid friendly routines based on original Zumba choreography. We break down the steps, add games, activities and cultural exploration elements into the class structure.
HEALTHY LIVING TALKS
You are invited to attend special guest lectures in our Schine Meeting Room. Healthy Living and Wellness talks are presented by area doctors and local professionals. These talks are FREE to the public. Membership is not required to attend. Check our calendar for scheduled talks.
