Discover the Power of Storytelling
Research shows storytelling creates stronger connections than small talk — even among strangers! (Study by Nicholas Epley, PhD). Each week, participants will gather to share personal work-related stories based on weekly prompts. Story prompts will be posted on our private Meetup group for the program. Topics are designed to inspire connection, creativity, and even a little laughter.
Examples of Story Prompts:
- Turn of Phrase: Share how a word or phrase shaped an experience
- True Story/Questionable Context: Tell a story… but can the group guess what’s true or not?
- The Humble Brag: Celebrate a proud moment, no apologies
- Tricking the Chatbot: Explore AI prompts and tell the real story behind the results
Why Professional Stories?
Our careers are a big part of who we are. Sharing work stories gives others a glimpse into your world — and offers you a chance to control your narrative, celebrate accomplishments, and spark new conversations.
The Need is Real
Social isolation is a growing health concern. Remote work, career transitions, and technology reliance are making everyday connection harder. Storied Connections is designed to counteract that trend — one conversation at a time. This is not a therapy group or a professional networking event. It’s about authentic storytelling — with room for humor, insight, and everything in between.
Program Goals:
- Foster meaningful new friendships
- Expand your social and intellectual community
- Strengthen the WWFY community spirit
- Brighten someone’s day through connection
How to Join
Registration is open now for our upcoming session starting May 14! Plan to attend all five sessions for the best experience — and feel free to rejoin future sessions. New story prompts will be shared each week (via our Meetup group).
