YOUTH BASKETBALL

Join our Youth Basketball program and learn the fundamentals along with important skills like team work, sportsmanship, leadership and more! Lead by our highly trained and qualified coaches, our Youth Basketball programs are a great way to learn new skills or begin a lifelong athletic pursuit.

YOUTH BASKETBALL LEAGUE

Youth Basketball League (YBL) is open to boys and girls in Kindergarten through 4th Grade and teaches participants the basics of basketball through skills practice and fun games with guided instruction. Youth build confidence and develop lasting friendships, learn the importance of teamwork, good sportsmanship, as well as the Y core values of caring, honest, respect, and responsibility.

Mike Evans

Youth Basketball League Coach

Mike Evans, a shooting specialist, has coached kids all all ages for 20 years and in 7 different countries. A former Weston High School all-state basketball player, as well as a Hamilton College and semi-pro player, Mike uses fundamental instruction, controlled scrimmaging and competitive and fun games to teach basketball and lead our YBL developmental teams and league. Mike has been a head varsity basketball coach for eight seasons, as well as a assistant college basketball coach.

Pint Size Basketball Skills

Monday | January 3 – March 23
Grades K-2 | 4:30PM – 5:30PM
Cost: Members $150 | Community Members $200
An introductory basketball class where we focus on gross motor skills and the fundamentals of basketball.

Shooting Clinic

Friday | January 7 – March 25
Grades 5-8 | 4:30PM – 5:30PM
Cost: Members $150 | Community Members $200
Level appropriate skills and drills are lead by YMCA coaches each class. All aspects of the offensive side of basketball are included in the program. Participants looking to increase their court time in a structured fun environment will benefit from this program.
