WWFY RAISES OVER $2,200 FOR BREAST CANCER RESEARCH

The Westport Weston Family YMCA was filled with energy, movement, and community spirit on Friday, October 17, as members, staff, and friends came together for Dance for a Cure, a high-energy dance fitness fundraiser supporting The Cancer Couch Foundation.

Led by an incredible lineup of YMCA instructors: Ashlee Grieb, Preeti Sikri, Dipika Bera, Silvey Hwang, Tayler Frelot, and Beth D. and featuring music by DJ Champagne Shoji, participants enjoyed 75 minutes of non-stop dancing, sweat, and smiles. Nearly 50 participants took to the floor, uniting to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research.

The event was a true team effort from the YMCA’s Wellness and Group Fitness Teams, led by Ashlee G., who served as lead instructor and choreographer. Additional instructors brought their own unique styles to the evening,  from BollyX and Zumba to Tabata and dance choreography — creating an exciting mix of rhythms and routines that kept the energy high all night long.

YMCA staff including Brian Ference, Judy Samuels, Adrienne Morrison, and Denise Hotch also joined in the fun, showing their support both on and off the dance floor.

Thanks to the generosity of participants and the community, Dance for a Cure raised an impressive $2,252 for The Cancer Couch Foundation, which funds metastatic breast cancer research.

“We’re so proud of what we achieved together,” said Ashlee G., YMCA Group Fitness Instructor. “It’s amazing to see how the power of movement can inspire people and make a real difference.”
