Water Rats End 2021 Long Course Season with a Bang!

Who knew a year ago, that we would have such a fantastic Long Course season in 2021?  But we did. COVID-19 can’t stop Water Rats from fast swimming.  The team had many successes in the pool this summer both locally and regionally.

2021 Season Highlights:

• Claire Kehley -2^nd place Women’s Distance Individual Event Score CT Long Course Senior Championships
• Parker Lenoce 2^nd place Men’s Distance Individual Event Score CT Long Course Senior Championships
• Riley Twiss 3^rd place Men’s Distance Individual Event Score CT Long Course Senior Championships
• Kristen Racicot broke 21-year-old 13/14 Girls 100M Breaststroke record in a time of 1:22.51 at CT Long Course Senior Championships.
• 1^st Place 11-12-year-old Girls CT Long Course 11-14 Year Olds Age Group Championships
• 1^st Place 11-12 year olds Boys and Girls Combined CT Long Course 11-14 Year Olds Age Group Championships
• 3^rd Place 11-12-year-old Boys CT Long Course 11-14 Year Olds Age Group Championships
• 2^nd Place 13-14 Girls CT Long Course 11-14 Year Olds Age Group Championships
• 1^st Place 11-14 year olds Boys and Girls Combined CT Long Course 11-14 Year Olds Age Group Championships
• Annam Olasewere 3^rd place Girls Individual Event Score CT Long Course 11-14 Year Olds Age Group Championships
• 1^st Place 10/under Girls CT Long Course 10/under Age Group Championships
• 1^st Place 10/under Boys CT Long Course 10/under Age Group Championships
• 1^st Place 10/under Boys and Girls Combined CT Long Course 10/under Age Group Championships
• Ethan Arnett 1^st place Boys Individual Event Score CT Long Course 10/under Age Group Championships
• Lewis Meyers 3^rd place Boys Individual Event Score CT Long Course 10/under Age Group Championships
• Claire Kehley, Emmett Adams, Kate Murray, Annam Olasewere and Riley Twiss represented the Water Rats at CT Long Course Senior Zone Championships in Buffalo, NY from August 5-8, 2021. These six swimmers came in 6^th Overall (Combined Women’s and Men’s Scores) out of 65 teams and the Men’s team, just 3 of them, came in 2^nd
• Annam Olasewere broke Sarah Grinalds 13-14-year-old Girls 50M Free team record in a time of 26.10 and set a new meet record at the CT Long Course Senior Zone Championships. Annam’s time is also the new CT Resident Record.
• Ethan Arnett, Valentina Belyaev, Audrey Gil, Ella Gussen, Noelle Ivanovich, Abigaile Mais, Ayaan Olasewere, Ava Piscioniere, and Christian Sanchez earned spots on the Connecticut Zone Team and competed at the 2021 VA Eastern Zone LC Championships in Richmond Virginia on August 4-7, 2021.
• Ella Gussen broke the 20-year-old 13-14-year-old Girls 100M Backstroke record of Lauren Evanoaksky in a time of 1:09.66 at the 2021 VA Eastern Zone LC Championships.
