Get To Know Us – Kristin Hantler
“Being a mom is the most rewarding and challenging job I’ve ever had and it wasn’t until recently that I realized the importance of making time for myself.” Kristin Hantler said. “I’m on a mission to lose the baby weight I’ve been hanging onto and be in great shape, for both me and my family.”
Kristin had changed lifestyles drastically when she and her husband decided to move to Westport almost nine years ago. They wanted to be closer to their jobs and have the opportunity to start a family in the community, close to Compo Beach and Longshore golf. When they finally had children, the YMCA was the perfect fit for their kids to take swim lessons.
In 2017 though, Kristin decided to make a lifestyle change and signed their whole family up for a membership. This motivated her to take a barre class with Gina –her first step towards personal training and getting into the best shape of her life.
“Her strength and enthusiasm were infectious and I couldn’t wait to come back to the next class!” Kristin said, “She has challenged and inspired me.”
What impact has the YMCA made in her life? “It’s a permanent life-change to prioritize fitness.” But she laughed when asked about how her own impact at the Y. “My family brings joy and laughter. But I bring intensity and dedication.”
In Kristin’s personal life she likes to conquer everything she gets involved with. She is now a local small business owner and invites anyone who wants to come by for a challenge on her century-old antique Brunswick pool table that is currently collecting dust. Be careful though, she used to play pool competitively!
Every day, in thousands of places, each Y is serving a different us. In times of crisis, in times of need, and sometimes, just because.
