WESTPORT, CT August 16, 2024 – The Westport Weston Family YMCA Board of Directors (“the Y Board”) today announced that Anjali McCormick, the organization’s Chief Executive Officer, will be stepping down from her position on August 30, 2024. The Y Board has named Chief Financial Officer Glen Hale interim Chief Executive Officer. Ms. McCormick will work with Mr. Hale to ensure a smooth transition.

“Anjali joined the Y almost four years ago, stepping into the leadership position as the organization and the broader community were recovering from the many challenges of the pandemic. She subsequently helped grow membership to its maximum capacity, putting the organization in a very strong fiscal position, while  developing new programs and services to address the evolving needs of the community, We thank Anjali for her commitment to the Y and our entire community and we wish her well with her next endeavor,” said Juliane Sunderland, President of the Board of Directors.

“It was an honor to play a small role in this amazing organization’s century-long service to the Westport and Weston community. I want to thank the brilliant staff for their tireless effort to deliver first-class programming and providing an environment that creates memories that last a lifetime. I want to thank all of our amazing members and generous donors for welcoming me with open arms and for their continued support to this great organization. Lastly, I want to thank the Board for giving so selflessly, most often behind the scenes, to make the Y an enduring presence in our community,” stated Ms. McCormick.

Commenting on the appointment of Mr. Hale as interim CEO, Ms. Sunderland stated: “Glen has a comprehensive understanding of the Y’s operations, programming, people, and culture. We are grateful that he has agreed to take on the additional day-to-day responsibilities on an interim basis as we conduct a search for our next CEO.

“The Y Board has worked side-by-side with Glen since he joined the leadership team and are confident in his abilities and depth of experience to lead the organization during this interim period. We are fortunate to have a deep bench of talent and leadership to ensure a smooth transition as we conduct a thoughtful search for our next CEO.”

“The CEO transition plan comes on the heels of our celebration of our 100th annual meeting of the association. We are excited to begin the process of identifying a new CEO that will lead us into the next century of our service to the Westport and Weston communities.”

Interim CEO Glen Hale stated: “I am pleased to oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization and to continue to work with the great members of the Y staff as we provide uninterrupted service to our membership. I am committed to providing an environment that is conducive to achieving our core principles of healthy living, youth development, and social responsibility.”
