SPECIAL NEEDS & UNIFIED PROGRAMS
Our special needs athletes compete as Water Rats at the Special Olympics Summer Games. The team practices every Sunday afternoon in the YMCA Lap Pool.
Developmental Team: Sundays 3:30-4:30pm
Competitive Team: Sundays 4:30-5:30pm
Our Unified Basketball team is comprised of both special needs athletes and typical partners. This fall, the teams will compete in two Unified tournaments. There will be 2 practices each week. Players may attend one or both.
Become an Athlete
Step 1: Fill out & sign an Athlete Release Form: for minors / for adults
Step 2: Have a physician fill out and sign the Athlete Medical Form: for all athletes
Step 3: Deliver both forms to Jay Jaronko. You may scan & email the forms to firstname.lastname@example.org or mail/deliver them to the Westport Weston Family YMCA at 14 Allen Raymond Lane, Westport, CT 06880.
Step 4: Jay, or his designee, will contact you once the Special Olympics of CT has processed your paperwork. Please allow for one week for processing. Once this is final, Jay will notify you that your child may begin practicing.
