Register Now for Out Of The Woods – A Youth Obstacle Run at the YMCA
Registration is now open for the 2nd Annual Out Of The Woods event at the YMCA. Out Of The Woods is an obstacle course run designed for youth to participate in together. The event will take place on Saturday, October 22.
On-Line Pre-Registration: Please click here to be directed to our Registration Page and search for “Out of the Woods”.
In-Person Pre-Registration: The registration form can be found by clicking here. Please fill this out and return it to the Front Desk at the Westport Weston Family YMCA.
Day-Of Registration: We have limited space for this event. In 2015, we did not permit day-of registration. We strongly recommend registering early.
Team Registration: We ask that children register and arrive in teams of 2 to 4 people. If you’d like to be placed on a team, please contact Meg George at mgeorge@westporty.org.
BETTER TOGETHER
Our obstacles are designed to challenge participants, but they are all age-appropriate. Additionally, they are designed for kids to accomplish together. Not only will your child rely on his/her team to complete the course, they will likely need help from other teams to complete it as well. In turn, they will be expected to help other teams when they are in need of it.
TWO GREAT CAUSES, ONE COMMON GOAL
All proceeds from this event will go to benefit two local charitable efforts: TeamBrent and the Westport Weston Family YMCA.
TeamBrent was created by Dana & Mike McCreesh in 2005 as a way to battle childhood cancer alongside their 3-year-old, Brent. Today, Brent is a 14-year-old survivor, but the fight goes on.
Brent is living proof that Together We Make a Difference.
TeamBrent’s mission is to raise awareness and funds to fight all childhood cancers, with a focus on Neuroblastoma. Starting in March 2005, thousands of TeamBrenters have collectively raised more than $7.6 million to fight childhood cancers.
In 2015, 925 individuals from Westport and Weston directly benefited from the YMCA Annual Campaign, receiving nearly $250,000 in direct financial assistance. Monthly memberships ensure the lights stay on, but the YMCA Annual Campaign guarantees that the people who truly need the YMCA will always have access to the programs and services the Y provides.
TeamBrent and the YMCA have a common goal: to improve and strengthen our community one person – one child – at a time. For more information about the charitable work that TeamBrent and the YMCA are involved with, please visit their websites:
