TEE TIME: HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF THE TRACKMAN iO GOLF SIMULATOR
Hi, I’m Darren. I’ve been a member of the Westport Weston Family YMCA for four years and have spent this summer interning with the marketing and finance departments. Earlier this year, the Y installed a brand-new Trackman iO golf simulator, giving members a convenient place to practice golf indoors, improve their swing, and enjoy indoor golf year-round in Westport.
I truly believe it’s been the greatest addition to their facility since I’ve been here. I love playing golf; I play at a country club and at several local courses as well. I’m constantly looking to improve my game, and the golf simulator makes it super easy to practice, get better, and have fun. Today, I’ll be telling you all about how I like to spend my time in the golf simulator whenever I book a session.
Why the golf simulator is the perfect indoor activity in Westport
The golf simulator at the YMCA makes golf easy and comfortable. When I go to the driving range, I’m constantly dealing with bugs, heat, and crowds. I hate lugging a heavy golf bag to the range only to find every bay occupied and then having to wait in the blistering sun for a chance to hit a limited number of balls.
At the YMCA, I can enjoy an advanced, personalized golf experience in the privacy of an air-conditioned room. I know I could bring my own golf clubs to use in the simulator if I wanted to, but I personally never bother because the Y always has a large selection of high-quality clubs available. It’s incredibly convenient to be able to head to the Y from wherever I am without having to stop home and pick up my golf bag every time I want to play.

How Golf Simulator Data Can Improve Your Swing
The Trackman software gives me a ton of statistics after every shot, including ball speed, carry distance, launch angle, spin rate, club path, and shot dispersion, so I know exactly what I need to improve. It also provides a graphic and video that shows exactly how I struck the ball and where contact occurred on the clubface. Because I log in every time I use the simulator, Trackman remembers my statistics and averages, so I can compare each session to my typical performance. That makes it easy to tell when something in my swing needs to be fixed.
Beyond the practice range, I also love being able to participate in so many different golf courses on the golf simulator without ever having to walk or drive a cart. It’s a ton of fun finishing a round at a public Augusta course and then heading right over to Tokyo for my next one.
The golf simulator is an incredibly convenient amenity that lets me have fun and improve my golf game while enjoying peace, quiet, and comfort inside the Westport Weston Family YMCA.
