DANCE CENTER POLICIES & DRESS CODE

ATTENDANCE POLICY
Attendance is an important part in order to develop skills and learn choreography in time for performances, plus we don’t want dancers to miss out on any fun! Please email Dance Center Director, Alison Ligi at aligi@westporty.org when your dancer will be absent. A doctor’s note may be required for prolonged absences due to illness or injury.

DRESS CODE

BALLET, BALLET/TAP | Any color leotard with or without a skirt, tights, pink Ballet shoes for girls (preferably without ties), fitted top and bottom with black Ballet shoes for boys (preferably without ties), black Tap shoes (preferably with Velcro strap), hair pulled back from face.

ADULT BALLET | Any ballet attire or athleisure, ballet shoes, socks or bare feet, and hair pulled back from the face.

HIP HOP, BOYS HIP HOP | Any comfortable clothes/ athletic wear or fitted top with fitted bottoms or sweatpants, NO JEANS, clean sneakers, hair pulled back away from face.

INTELLIDANCE BABIES, DANCE WITH ME, BOUNDING BOYS | Any comfortable clothes, NO JEANS, any dance attire, Ballet shoes, socks or bare feet, hair pulled back away from face.

INTRO TO MODERN | Any color leotard with tights, leotard with fitted bottoms, or fitted top and bottoms, bare feet, hair pulled back away from face.

JAZZ, JAZZ FUNK | Any color leotard with or without a skirt and tights, leotard or fitted top with shorts/leggings, black slip on Jazz shoes, black velcro strap tap shoes, hair pulled back away from face.

JAZZ/TAP | Any color leotard with or without a skirt and tights or fitted top and bottoms, black slip on Jazz shoes, black Tap shoes (preferably with Velcro strap), hair pulled back from face

CHEER/POM | Any athletic wear/ Any color leotard with or without a skirt and tights or fitted top and bottoms, black slip on Jazz shoes, black Tap shoes (preferably with Velcro strap), hair pulled back from face

LYRICAL | Any color leotard with or without a skirt and tights, leotard or fitted top with shorts/leggings, half sole shoes in the color tan, hair pulled back away from face.

TAP | Any comfortable clothes or fitted top and bottoms, NO JEANS, black lace up Tap shoes, hair pulled back from face.

INCLEMENT WEATHER PROGRAM MAKE-UPS
Please check the following locations for changes to our facility and program schedules. Check the Red banner at the top of every page on our website or check the Family Y Facebook and Instagram. Alternatively, you can check the outgoing voice message at the Westport Y 203-226-8981.

Currently, the Dance Center is not able to offer make ups for classes that are cancelled due to inclement weather because of limited space and instructor availability. There are no refunds or credits for weather cancellations. If you have questions, please call the Family YMCA Dance Center at 203-571-6039.

MAKEUP/REFUND POLICY
Dance Center participants register for classes on specific dates and times. If the Dance Center cancels a class for the season/session, a refund will be issued. Unless the Dance Center cancels a class and provides a makeup, attendance in scheduled classes is the responsibility of the participant. There are no refunds or credits for classes missed. Participant withdrawal from a performance class before the end of the fall session will require payment through December. There are no refunds or credits for participant withdrawal from performance classes come January as choreography will have begun and costumes ordered. Costume fees, which are included in our September to June tuition, are non-refundable once costumes are ordered. There are no refunds or credits for participant withdrawal from developmental classes once the session has started. If an injury were to occur, a note from the dancer’s doctor would be needed before a refund would be considered. We thank you for understanding and adhering to our policies.
