GROUP FITNESS
Starting a new workout routine? Group fitness classes are a great way to begin! Our Y offers a variety of 50+ classes each week, so you can try different workouts and discover a format you love. With our educated and friendly instructors to guide you, you’ll learn the right moves and stay safe. Plus, working out with others makes it fun and helps you stay on track.

- Register for your favorite Group Fitness or Aquatic Exercise classes on our mobile app! Search Westport Weston Family YMCA in your app store, which can also be used to conveniently check-in to our Y and more. Learn more and download the app at westporty.org/app.

- Please note, if you have never logged into your online member account, or it is not connected to a valid email address, you will need to set it up before logging into the app or trying to reset a password. View login instructions and Mobile App FAQ here.

- Class reservations open one [1] week in advance. For example, you can register for our 9:15 AM Yoga class on Sunday, December 1, starting on Sunday, November 24, at 9:15 AM.
- If you can’t attend a class, please cancel as soon as possible to free the spot for another member.
- We encourage all members to review our updated Group Exercise Policies below.
CLASS GUIDELINES & POLICIES
- Participation: Group exercise classes are included as a benefit to WWFY membership and open to ages 15+. Some high-intensity classes may not be appropriate for certain age groups. Our instructors reserve the right to dictate participation when needed.
- Availability: For safety reasons, classes are limited based on space and the availability of equipment. Pre-registration is strongly recommended.
- Registration: Class registration opens 7 days in advance of class start time via the WWFY Mobile App. Registering for more than one class per time slot is prohibited.
- Cancellations: If you can’t attend a class, please cancel your registration as soon as possible to free up the spot for another member. The cancellation feature is available the same way registration is made via the WWFY Mobile App.
- Arrive early: For classes with equipment, please arrive at least 5-10 minutes before the start of class for ample time to check-in and set up.
- Late entry: For the safety of all participants, no one is permitted to enter after the class warmup is complete (within 3-5 minutes after the start time) or once the class has reached maximum capacity — including those who pre-registered.
- Come prepared: Wear clean gym shoes and appropriate athletic apparel. Bring a water bottle and a towel if desired. Leave all unnecessary belongings in a locker.
- Be mindful: Share space with others and only take the equipment you need. Wipe down any sweat you leave on the floor/mats and return all equipment to its proper place.
- Communicate: Let the instructor know if you have any injuries or health concerns prior to class. Be sure to ask for help if you feel discomfort and notify the instructor if you are leaving the class early for any reason.
- Phones: Cell phone use is prohibited once class begins. If you need to use your phone, please leave the studio so as not to interrupt the class.
- Respect: Instructors and fellow participants are to be treated with respect. If you run into an issue, let the instructor or Y wellness staff know.
- Conduct: The instructor has the right to ask a participant to leave if these guidelines are not followed. Participants who continually abuse the policies may have their group exercise and/or membership privileges removed indefinitely.
- Guests: Guests are allowed to participate in group exercise classes in adherence with WWFY Guest Day Pass Policies.
CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

BARRE EXPRESS
This 45-minute total body workout consists of strength building, stretching, and postural alignment exercises. The Barre Express class follows the same format as the traditional Barre class, but the pace is faster.
BOLLYX
A Bollywood-inspired dance-fitness program that combines choreography with the hottest music from around the world. This 45-minute cardio workout cycles between higher and lower intensity dance sequences to get you moving, sweating, and smiling.
CARDIO DANCE JAM
MUSIC-DANCE-FITNESS-FUN. Cardio Dance Jam has it all! Think you can’t dance? YOU CAN! Get lost in high energy music! Move & groove to an endorphin high that can’t be beat!
CARDIO SCULPT
Combines a variety of cardiovascular exercises, to elevate your heart rate for a sustained period of at least 20 minutes, with total body muscle toning.
CARDIO STRENGTH
High-energy class with focus on fast-paced sequences of cardio, interspersed with some strength training.
COACH J’s BOOT CAMP
Unleash your “inner warrior” with this creative boot camp led by personal trainer, Jahdeh Somerville. We will use a variety of fitness equipment & supplies, and focus on both muscular & cardiovascular fitness, strength, agility, and power.
CYCLE
No-impact cardiovascular workout set to music. Designed for people of all ages and abilities. Our KEISER cycles deliver more power in your pedaling.
CYCLE EXPRESS
Fast track your workout with our unique 45-minute Express Cycle.
ESSENTRICS
Dynamically stretch and strengthen every muscle to reshape and re-balance the body. With no-impact, this workout will increase your mobility while keeping your joints healthy & pain free.
GENTLE YOGA
Enjoy all the elements of yoga at a slower pace, allowing for more transition times and holding of postures, resulting in detailed attention to proper alignment.
GROUP FIGHT
A challenging, athletic, and motivating workout. This class offers an awesome cardio experience that also strengthens the entire body. It’s a great way to add variety to your training and improve timing, precision, and focus.
GROUP POWER
Using an adjustable barbell, weight plates, and body weight, Group Power incorporates traditional barbell movements with a unique integration of functional exercise, perfectly timed to dynamic music.
THERAPEUTIC YOGA
26+2 Yoga is comprised of 26 poses and 2 breathing exercises. Most positions occur twice and usually take 6-60 seconds, based upon the position.
METABOLIC BURN
Burn a ton of calories while gaining muscle through a non-stop class of cardio, resistance training, explosive power exercises (plyometrics), body weight and TRX suspension training, and so much more!
PILATES
Begin with the fundamentals and move through traditional Pilates exercises. Strengthen and tone your powerhouse while working on the mat. Benefits include toning, shaping, core strength, and overall flexibility. Barre work may be included.
PILATES BARRE
A core-fusion style class that combines resistance training with elements of Pilates, Ballet, Barre, and Yoga. Light weights & other props will be included to increase the intensity and heart rate.
PILATES FUSION
A creative Pilates class that combines classic and modern movement patterns. Focus on your core and posterior muscle groups, while improving flexibility through a combination of exercise sequences, using a variety of props.
PILATES MIX
Strengthen and tone with both floor and upright exercises led by a certified Pilates Instructor.
PILATES SCULPT
Develop and leverage the power of your core, glutes, and inner thighs to drive targeted full-range, pulsing, and isometric shaping just where you need it. You will combine your deepest strength with mindful mobility and feel worked throughout your entire body.
POWER YOGA
A fast-paced Vinyasa class focused on building strength & flexibility. Class is set to an energizing playlist that will help connect breath to movement. Open to all levels.
SCULPT & CYCLE
Thirty minutes of strength training followed by thirty minutes of high intensity cycling for maximum gains in minimum time.
STEPPING UP
Yes, we are bringing back Step Aerobics! Get a great cardio workout and some muscle toning to boot! Join in on the fun!
STRENGTH & SCULPT
Full-body strength and core class using weights, bars, body weight, and more! Class ends with dynamic and static stretches.
YIN YOGA
This slow-paced, meditative style of yoga incorporates principles of traditional Chinese medicine. Asanas are held for longer than in other styles of yoga. The goals of Yin Yoga include awareness of inner silence & bringing to light a universal, interconnecting quality.
YOGA FOR ALL
Move your mind and body through a series of asanas by combining breath and movement.
YOGA-HATHA & MEDITATION
Traditional yoga class with focus on mind, body and breath followed by meditation/yoga nidra.
YOGA – OPEN LEVEL VINYASA
Move your mind and body! A faster paced class with the asanas linked together in a series of movements that are synchronized with the breath. Open to all levels.
ZUMBA
Ditch the workout, join the party! A dynamic & exciting class full of Latin & exotic music flavors. Through interval training, you will tone & sculpt the body. Zumba is a fun way to get a great workout!
