YMCA Water Rat Swim Team alum Matthew Torres representing Team USA at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo
“Matthew has a tremendous work ethic as well as exceptional skills. His determination and passion for swimming has certainly paid off.” said Ellen Johnston, Director Competitive Swimming; Water Rat Head Coach for the Westport Weston Family YMCA.
“As Matthew’s swimming began to improve he became more focused on setting a high standard for himself. He was always so coachable and never backed down from a challenge. The Para PanAm Meet in Lima, Peru back in late August of 2019 is where Matthew exploded and became a force to be reckoned with. So thrilled and extremely proud for Matthew achieving his goal to be an Olympian.”
