LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION

The Westport Weston Family YMCA is a site that certifies and re-certifies high quality lifeguards on a routine basis. Certification courses follow Red Cross guidelines and include First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.

NEW LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION SCHOLARSHIPS

The Westport Weston Family YMCA is passionate about making our programming inclusive and available to all. We are pleased to share that the WWFY has received funding to award 15, needs-based, Lifeguard Certification Scholarships leading up to the 2022 Summer season. These scholarships allow us to reach underserved young adults (ages 15-23) in Lower Fairfield County and give them access to transformational opportunities and experiences to learn new skills, meet new people, and find purpose in gainful employment.

OUTDOOR POOL:
TEST, MARK, PROTECT – SWIM TESTING & WRISTBAND SYSTEM

All swimmers ages 14 and younger are required to take a swim evaluation test which will be administered daily by WWFY staff.
Swimmers are evaluated on their current swimming abilities regardless of whether the swimmer may have taken a swim test in a previous season.
Swim bracelets are distributed to swimmers ages 3-14 based on current swimming ability (not age) and must be worn at all times.
• Swimmers who decline to take the Swim Evaluation must wear a red bracelet, which limits them to the shallow end of the pool.
• Swimmers can retake the Swim Evaluation only once each week. All decisions regarding Swim Evaluation are at the discretion of the WWFY management and are not subject to question. Swim Evaluation results will kept on file electronically.
