YMCA SPECIAL OLYMPICS SWIM TEAM MAKES WAVES AT 2025 CT SUMMER GAMES

The Westport Weston Family YMCA’s Special Olympics Swim Team made a powerful splash at the 2025 Special Olympics Connecticut Summer Games, competing in the swimming events on Sunday, June 8 at Southern Connecticut State University in New Haven. The athletes demonstrated remarkable skill, sportsmanship, and perseverance throughout the day.

Mason Yeoh (age 20) earned first place in both the 25 freestyle and 50 backstroke.
Sebastian Keuker (age 12) took home second place in the 100 freestyle and finished fourth in both the 25 freestyle and 50 backstroke. TK Anderson (age 11) had an outstanding showing with a first-place finish in the 50 backstroke, second in the 50 breaststroke, and third in the 25 freestyle.

The swimmers were supported by a dedicated coaching team: Emily Daymonde, Cheyenne Reyes, Anna Renee Gormely, Eric Simons, and Victoria Walters. Coaches shared that seeing the athletes’ joy and pride as they competed was the most rewarding part of the day. Their efforts and encouragement helped bring out the best in every swimmer.

The YMCA’s participation in the Summer Games reflects its ongoing commitment to inclusion, perseverance, and the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to grow, thrive, and belong. Events like this highlight the strength and heart of our adaptive programs — and the power of community.
