STAND-UP COMEDY WORKSHOP
Ever wanted to try stand-up comedy? Whether you’re hoping to get behind the mic for the first time, become a stronger public speaker or simply try something new, this six-week workshop will help you find your funny in a fun, supportive environment.
Led by experienced comedians Motts Pelazza and John Malkin, participants will learn the fundamentals of stand-up comedy while developing their own material and performance style.

- Joke writing and developing material
- Timing, delivery and stage presence
- How to turn everyday experiences into comedy
- Confidence speaking and performing in front of an audience
Participants will receive personalized coaching and plenty of opportunities to practice on stage throughout the workshop.
The six-week program concludes with a live graduation showcase, where each participant will perform their own stand-up set for an audience of family, friends and fellow students.
No experience necessary. Enrollment is limited to allow for individual coaching and stage time.

Each student receives personalized coaching by acclaimed comedians John Malkin and Motts Pelazza and plenty of stage time. The workshop concludes with a live graduation showcase where you’ll perform your own comedy set for a supportive audience of family, friends and fellow students.

Meet Your Instructors

Motts Pelazza has performed stand-up comedy for 45 years, opening for comedians including Damon Wayans, Billy Gardell, Tommy Davidson, Kevin Meaney and Patrice O’Neal.
His credits include Carolines, Don’t Tell Mama, Catch A Rising Star, Governors Comedy Club, Stress Factory, the Palace Theatre and Patchogue Theatre, along with an appearance on Impractical Jokers. Motts is a Stamford resident and retired mail carrier.
John Malkin has performed at venues including Comic Strip Live, Broadway Comedy Club and Greenwich Village Comedy Club in New York City, as well as the Hollywood Improv and Westside Comedy Theater in Los Angeles.
A Westport resident, John also spent 30+ years as a media executive with MTV Networks, FOX, E!, the NFL and Ovation TV.
